Privacy and cookies notice
Who we are
LandQuery ("we", "us") provides land information, property history and plan-drawing services across England and Wales. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the "controller" under UK data protection law. Contact us about anything in this notice at info@landquery.co.uk or on 01392 321904.
What we collect
- Enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number, the location of the land (address, postcode, grid reference or map pin) and your message.
- Emails, calls and letters: whatever you choose to tell us.
- Work we carry out for you: details of you and your property needed to do the job, which may include title information, deeds, plans and, where HM Land Registry requires it, evidence of identity.
- Website use: only if you accept advertising cookies, Google Ads records that you visited after clicking one of our adverts and whether you then sent an enquiry or called (see Cookies below).
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote: steps you have asked us to take before a contract.
- To carry out and invoice the work you ask for: performance of a contract.
- To keep business and accounting records: legal obligation and our legitimate interests.
- To measure which adverts bring enquiries: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We never sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
Who we share it with
- HM Land Registry, local authorities and other record holders, only where needed for your matter.
- Our website host and email provider (names.co.uk / team.blue and its website-builder platform), which store form messages and emails for us.
- Google, only if you accept advertising cookies. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Map services on our land search page (map, satellite and boundary data providers), which receive your device's IP address to show the map.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on UK-approved safeguards such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 2 years. Client files and invoices are normally kept for 6 years after the work is completed, so we can deal with any follow-up questions and meet tax requirements. Advertising cookies expire after up to 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to pass to someone else. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@landquery.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
Always on (strictly necessary): one setting stored in your browser (lq_consent) that remembers whether you accepted or rejected cookies, so we don't ask on every page. It contains no personal details.
Only if you click Accept (advertising): Google Ads cookies such as _gcl_au and Google's conversion cookies. They tell us which adverts lead to enquiries or calls. They last up to 90 days and Google receives information about your visit.
We do not use cookies until you choose. If you reject, no advertising cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
